Dr. Schwartz is internationally known for her program of research, which focuses on exercise interventions to reduce the physical and emotional effects of cancer and treatment. Her book, Cancer fitness: Exercise programs for patients & survivors, published by Simon & Schuster, brings the science of cancer and exercise to patients, survivors, and their families.
Schwartz obtained a PhD in Oncology Nursing from the University of Utah in 1997. While earning a PhD, Schwartz mentored Roger Campbell, M.S., as they developed Cancer Rehabilitation research programming, at the University of Utah. Schwartz and Campbell, continue to work together, bridging the gap between cancer, exercise, research, and rehabilitation programs. Programs currently exist through Mountain Land Rehabilitation, Inc. in Utah and Nevada.
Schwartz has received research funding from the National Institutes of Nursing Research (NINR), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Oncology Nursing Foundation, Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Initiative, and the industry. Schwartz has been recognized for her work, with numerous awards from such organizations as the American Cancer Society, the Oncology Nursing Society, and the International Research Promotion Council. Schwartz has been appointed to the Lance Armstrong Foundation and YMCA, USA Expert Panel; she is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine’s Committee on Certification and Registry Boards, and recently was recognized by the University of Florida as the Alumni of the Year. She holds three world records in bicycling and was a member of the 2003 Tour of Hope team that cycled from Los Angeles to Washington, DC, to raise awareness for cancer research.
Mr. Campbell started his exercise science career in 1983 as an Army Master Fitness Trainer, where he physically prepared troops for combat deployments. With the GI Bill, Campbell obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science from Utah State University, followed by a Master of Science Degree from the University of Utah, in Clinical Exercise Physiology. Campbell's greatest passion is working for the physical restoration of pulmonary and cancer diseased individuals. While involved with the University of Utah's Lung Transplant program, Campbell realized that greater restorative measures could, and should, be implemented to improve functional abilities of lung and cancer patients, and has set his focus on their rehabilitation pathway. Campbell spends his best energies duplicating and maintaining pulmonary and cancer rehabilitation programs. Additionally, Campbell is committed to the development of health care professionals by participating as an external review panel member for the industry-first Cancer Specialist certification prepared by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the American Cancer Society (ACS).

Ron received his Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University, attending on a football scholarship. He received his degree in physical therapy from the University of Central Arkansas. Ron's continuing focus has been on orthopedic and sports medicine. He became board certified as an orthopedic specialist in 1991. Ron has vast experience in physical therapy serving Southern Utah since 1981 and remains committed to educating and empowering individuals to be successful in their rehabilitative process.
Shaun received a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in Exercise Science in 1996. He received a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Alabama- Birmingham in 1998. Shaun came to Kanab in 2002 after practicing physical therapy in Alabama and New Mexico for several years. He was appointed director of physical therapy in Kanab in 2005. Shaun has a special interest in manual therapy and combines this philosophy with focused exercise programs. Shaun is licensed to practice physical therapy in both Utah and Arizona. He serves all of Kane County and surrounding areas. Brandon Stubbs DPT, works as a staff physical therapist with Shaun at the Kanab Clinic. The Kanab Clinic offers a wide variety of services to its patients including outpatient, inpatient, skilled, cardio pulmonary, cancer rehabilitation, wound care and home health.
Steve has over 7 years experience in Physical Therapy and has been with Mountain Land the past 3 years. He received his Bachelors of Science at Brigham Young University in 1996 and went on to receive his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa, Arizona in 2000. Steve worked in an outpatient, orthopedic facility in Scottsdale, Arizona before moving to St. George and working for Mountain Land and working with Roger Campbell to start a COPD program at Red Cliff Regional. He currently is working as Rehab Director in Mesquite, Nevada. When not working, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and 5 children along with playing basketball 2 days a week before work and playing on city league softball, flag football, and basketball teams.
Aaron grew up in Oroville, California. He received his A.A. degree from Ricks College in 1999, his B.S. in Exercise Science from Brigham Young University in 2001, his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2004, and is currently working on his dissertation on COPD for a Doctorate degree of Physical Therapy. Aaron has worked with Mountain Land Rehabilitation for nearly two years now in the acute care setting at Spring Valley Hospital, Las Vegas, NV. Aaron enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and leading his local Boy Scout troop on campouts.
Connie recently joined the Mountain Land team and is the lead therapist at the Summerlin Clinic in Las Vegas. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with an emphasis in Pre-Physical Therapy and a minor in Spanish at Utah State University in 2001. Connie completed her Masters if Physical Therapy in 2004 at the University of Utah. Connie has focused on continuing her education by receiving advanced training and education in Manual Therapy, specifically soft tissue and joint mobilization for the spine and extremities. She has over 3 years of training experience with the treatment of Vertigo and other vestibular and balance deficits.
Dave has over 6 years experience in Physical Therapy and has been with Mountain land the past 3 years. He received his Bachelors of Science at Brigham Young University in 1999 and went on to receive his Masters in Physical Therapy from Regis University in 2001. Dave has worked in Inpatient Acute Rehabilitation for 5 years an Outpatient orthopedic for 1. His specialties include orthopedic sports medicine, spinal cord injury, neuro rehab (NDT trained) and manual therapy. When not working, Dave enjoys mountain biking, coaching youth soccer, and spending time with his wife Marci and their 3 boys.
John completed his undergraduate studies at Montana Tech of the University of Montana in occupational safety and health with the option of applies health science. His doctorate degree in physical therapy was completed at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2005. John has a strong background and training in manual and orthopedic physical therapy as well as advanced training in spinal and extremity mobilization/manipulation. John has recently received training in COPD and Cancer rehab and is the director of these programs at the Sahara clinic.
Katie received her B.S. (OT) from College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN in 2002. She has 5 years of experience and has been with Mountain Land for 1 1/2 . Her experience is in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient, SNF, and adult and adolescent mental health. Although she loves all areas of therapy, she specializes in neuro rehab, spinal cord injury, and lymphedema management. Outside of work, Katie enjoys travel, cooking, knitting, and spending time with family and friends.
Rick Lybbert was born and raised in the suburbs of San Francisco, California. He received his degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Utah in 1996. Rick was initially employed with Mountain Land Rehabilitation as a traveling physical therapist where he worked in Oregon, Colorado, Idaho, and Utah. In 1997, he opened Mountain Land Physical Therapy -Salt Lake. He specializes in evaluating and treatment of orthopedic and sports conditions. In his free time, Rick enjoys water skiing, snow skiing, and spending time with his wife and three children.
An owner in Rehabilitation Services of Craig, Val has lived and worked as a physical therapist in Craig since 1991. She is a 1986 graduate of Northeastern University in Boston and has a strong rehabilitation background with a special interest in neurological and geriatric populations. Val continues her health care education by receiving advanced training and education in cardiac rehab., lymphedema therapy, vestibular rehab., wound care, and most recently cancer rehabilitation. She is excited to work with local agencies to provide comprehensive and cost effective therapy services for our various patient populations. A mother of two, Val is kept busy outside of work attending her sons’ ball games, skiing, and camping.
Katie recently joined Rehabilitation Services of Craig as an O.T. in Craig, CO. She is a new graduate of Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, and moved to Steamboat Springs to begin her new career as a therapist. Katie received her B.S. in Health Sciences with a minor in Pre-OT from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA in 2001. She is currently working with outpatient and home health clients in Craig, and is developing a dementia program in Steamboat Springs. When not working, Katie enjoys skiing, hiking with her dog, biking, playing volleyball and seeing live music.
Our lead physical therapist is John T. Pearson, P.T., O.C.S. John is a 1986 graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Physical Therapy, and in April 1996 received his Orthopedic Certified Specialist designation from the American Physical Therapy Assoc. Previously, he held the position of Director of Industrial Rehabilitation in a large private practice in Bakersfield, CA. There he developed a Work Conditioning Program, Functional Capacity Assessment System, Ergonomic Consultation Service, and extensive program for A.D.A. complaint Post-Offer/Pre-Placement Screening. John’s post graduate Education and experience have also given him specialized skills in the areas of manual therapy, pre and post surgical spinal and extremity rehabilitation, and foot Orthotic prescription and fabrication.
Outside the clinic John enjoys fly-fishing, woodworking, church activities and most of all being with his wife and three sons. He is happy to use his skills and training to serve the people of Northwest Colorado.
Missy received her undergrad degree in exercise science in 2003, and her
Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2005 from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. She has worked in outpatient physical therapy at Rehabilitation Services of Craig for the past two and one-half years. Outside of work, Missy spends her time enjoying the landscape of Colorado by hiking, skiing, and running.
Jeff was born and raised in Craig, CO, graduating from Moffat County High School in 1982. He received his Bachelor’s in Exercise in Sports Science from the University of Arizona in 1986 and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from New Mexico State University in 1988. Jeff has extensive work experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer, serving as Team Trainer with the Chicago White Sox organization during the 1985 and 1986 seasons, Head Athletic Trainer at Jefferson High School in El Paso, TX, and Diablo Valley College in northern California. He has been with Rehabilitation Services of Craig for the past 15 years. Jeff enjoys hunting, cooking and spending time with his wife and two children.
